There’s Just Something About a Table…

Tables have a unique function. They gather.

• They gather facts, figures, and data, or

• They gather people who sit at the table to share food, stories, laughter, tears, and work.

At first glance, the Periodic Table of the Elements may appear most like the first. And yet, it is also like the second. This is a table that, yes, contains lots of data, but it is also a table that we can gather around.

Just as the casseroles and place settings that make up our dinner tables harken back to the mother who made it or the grandmother who set it, each element in the Periodic Table points to the One who made and set it. Each element was specifically designed and created uniquely by our Creator God.

So let’s gather — as family, friends, and co-workers — around this table. It may look different. But when we get our first taste, I think we’ll find we recognize the hand of the One that made it.

Hello. My name is Alyssa Holmen and I’m a self-proclaimed LEARNER. If there’s something to be found, uncovered, gleaned, or discovered, I’m all over it! In particular, I’m fascinated by all areas of science. No matter how much we discover in this world and beyond, it seems that there is always more. And isn’t that just like our God? I have a BA in chemistry and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree which I suppose helps qualify me to write these devotions, but most of all I love Jesus and hope that everything I do and say points back to how awesome He is.
